The Egadi Islands make up a wonderful archipelago surrounded by a turquoise blue sea.
The boat trip is the most evocative way to discover them also “from the sea”, admiring the most fascinating views, the natural caves that draw imaginative shapes, diving into the clear waters for snorkelling.
The planned stop on the two islands will allow you to savor the typically “island” atmosphere that reigns throughout the year in these splendid seaside villages.
Favignana, the “butterfly”, as the island is often called due to the two wings that seem spread out over the blue flower of the sea, owes its current name to the Favonio wind, while in ancient times it was called Aegusa. In recent times its history is linked to the Florio family who set up a tuna fishery, whose imposing size still dominates the landscape, near the port. Its coast is marked by beaches, rocky stretches engraved by the backwash, coves and caves inhabited in prehistoric times; on land it offers the singular spectacle of the gardens enclosed at the bottom of the tuff quarries.
Levanzo, the smallest of the three Egadi, has a very wild nature, there are no rolling roads and the only way to get around it is on foot or by bicycle. The island is a real natural oasis, it is discovered from the sea, full of coves, caves and tiny beaches and a sea that shows rocky bottoms and sandy valleys. The overhanging rocky coasts border the green groves of dwarf pines and also with the Mediterranean scrub full of herbs, the strong point of the local gastronomy.
